Florida does not require a boating “license.” However, anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 must meet Florida’s boating-safety education requirements before operating a jet ski. If you don’t already have an accepted boating safety card or certificate, you can complete an approved temporary certificate exam during the booking process.

All jet ski operators must be at least 18 years old. You must also be at least 18 years old to rent a jet ski from Riptide Riders. A valid government-issued photo ID is required.

Each jet ski can carry one operator and up to two passengers, depending on the passengers. We do not allow three adults on a single jet ski. Two children may ride with one adult operator when size and weight limits allow. All riders must wear a properly fitted life jacket.

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and, if required, your Florida boating safety certificate. We strongly recommend wearing water shoes, as docks and boat ramps can be wet and slippery. Riptide Riders provides the required life jackets and safety equipment for your rental.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled rental time. This allows time for check-in, verification of required documents, safety instructions, and your pre-ride orientation. Arriving late may reduce your time on the water.
